Mr. Rajkumar’s Story: Overcoming Challenges to Pursue a Musical Dream

In this interview, we have the pleasure of speaking with Rajkumar, a training manager in the life insurance industry and a talented singer who specializes in old Hindi melodies. Rajkumar’s musical journey began at the young age of 8, and he has since become an expert in singing the songs of legendary artists such as Mohammad Rafi, Kishore Kumar, and S. P. Balasubramanian and others. He performs regularly in karaoke events and has faced many challenges along the way, but with determination and hard work, he accomplished his dream of starting his own band in 2020. Q1. Can you tell us about your background and how you got started in your field?

Answer: I am Rajkumar, born in 1970 and a graduate from Osmania University. I have been working in the life insurance industry as a Training Manager. My singing journey started in 8th grade.

 

Q2. What are some of the most significant challenges you have faced in your career and how have you overcome them?

Answer: Coming from a middle-class family, I had a desire to learn carnatic music but due to financial constraints, I wasn’t able to. However, I started practicing filmy songs and never looked back.

 

Q3. Can you share a project or accomplishment that you are most proud of and why?

Answer: I am proud of starting my own band, BESTIE BAND, in 2020 during the Corona pandemic. I previously sang for other groups and as a freelancer, but this was a dream come true.

Q4. How do you stay current and stay informed about developments in your field?

Answer: I stay current by performing regularly and continuously practicing evergreen melodies.

 

Q5. Can you talk about a specific moment or experience that has greatly impacted your career or life?

Answer: A significant moment in my career was when I sang without a track at a relative’s marriage, impressing my brother-in-law’s friends from Jharkhand.

 

Q6. What advice would you give to someone who wants to pursue a career in your field?

Answer: My advice to others is to invest time in productive activities and continuously practice. Technology has made things easier, so take advantage of it.

 

Q7. Can you share any upcoming projects or initiatives that you’re excited about?

Answer: I am always open to new opportunities and eager to move forward.
