Question 1: What inspired you to become a DJ and when did you first realize your passion for music?

Answer: My passion for music started in 1990 when I moved to Hyderabad for my studies in computers and electronics. I used to listen to my brother’s music collection and was fascinated by 80’s pop and rock music. I used to regularly visit a music store called “Synchronous” and buy recorded music. The store owner gave me an opportunity to manage music at their pub called 10 DOWNING STREET, where I played with tape cassettes and developed my passion for DJing.

 

Question 2: Can you share with us a particularly memorable performance you’ve had and why it stands out to you?

Answer: One performance that stands out to me was my first commercial event at the pub called “Sailors Inn” near Paradise on New Year’s Eve. It was booked to capacity with 400 guests and I will never forget that night.

 

Question 3: How do you approach creating a set list and incorporating different genres into your performance?

Answer: I approach creating a set list by following the latest club charts, buying music, sharing music with DJ friends, and following the most trending music at club circuits. I try to incorporate different genres to keep the audience engaged and entertained.

Question 4: Can you tell us about any unique or innovative techniques you use to engage your audience during a show?

Answer: I engage the audience by playing popular tracks and interacting with them to get them to groove to the music.

 

Question 5: Can you share with us about a time when you had to overcome a challenge during a performance and how you handled it?

Answer: One challenge during a performance can be at private events, where I listen to the client’s demand for the music and play accordingly.

 

Question 6: How has the DJ industry changed since you started in 1992 and how have you adapted to these changes?

Answer: The DJ industry has changed drastically since I started in 1992. It has become more easy and innovative. I used to play with tape cassettes and LP records, but now the industry has changed to digital CDs and fully digital DJing. I have adapted to these changes by keeping updated with the latest technology and music.

 

Question 7: Can you give us a sneak peek into what you have in store for your fans and future performances?

Answer: My advice to aspiring DJs is to not take shortcuts, to learn from good DJ institutes, to have a good ear for music and sound, to keep updated with music and practice, and to never forget where and with whom you started your journey. Be calm and patient.
